Biodiversity, sustainability, health team

The Biodiversity, sustainability, health (BiDS) team is at the heart of the interactions between societal change and the transformation of biodiversity. Its aim? To understand their impact on global health and ecosystem resilience, while ensuring the sustainability of the services they provide (conservation, food security, genetic resources, etc.). Our research focuses on deciphering the cascading effects of upheavals caused by human activities (deforestation, urbanisation, overexploitation of resources, etc.) or by climate change on biodiversity. We are exploring, for example, the role of biodiversity as a barrier to the emergence of zoonotic infectious diseases (dilution effect) or in the adaptation of species to these global changes. We are driven by a desire to gain a better understanding of the links between biodiversity, health, and societies, from the perspective of sustainability in developing countries. We combine theoretical and applied approaches in ecology, (micro)biology, genetics, and mathematics, while integrating the human and social sciences.
