My activity

I am currently developing my PhD in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution as a co-tutelle between ISEM – Université de Montpellier (France) and CIBIO-InBio – Universidade do Porto (Portugal). My PhD is focused on an important conceptual problem – the role of natural selection on the formation and evolution of species. I tackle hares and mouse species in several contact zones with various degrees of divergence, gene flow and ecological differentiation and I am using massive amounts of genomic data (185 whole genome samples) resulting from modern sequencing tools, which will allow me to develop research in the forefront of evolutionary genomics. Genomics of non-model systems promises to shed novel light onto this long-lasting and fundamental question and I am particularly interested in using this tremendous dataset to study the role of selection in divergence, introgression and speciation.
