My activity
I’m working on how matrilineal kinship affects women’s health and autonomy, and how this traditional kinship structure changes with economic development. I’m conducting a fieldwork in Meghalaya, India, where I collect data about women’s autonomy and matrilineal practices according to the economic development level. My questions include:
– Which of the economic (matrilineal inheritance) or social (matrilocality) aspect of matriliny is the most predictive of better health outcomes for women?
– How have matrilineal practices changed these last few years with increasing economic development in Meghalaya?
