My activity

My thesis focuses on the evolution of genomic imprinting and sex chromosomes in Silene species. Specifically, I aim to i) test the hypothesis that sex antagonism can drive the evolution of sex-specific imprinting; ii) investigate whether genomic imprinting contributes to the regulation of sex-biased gene expression; and iii) explore the epigenetic mechanism underlying X-linked imprinting and dosage compensation. To address these questions, I analyze DNA methylation data, transcriptomic, and histone modification data generated through Oxford nanopore sequencing, RNA-seq, and CUT & RUN technologies, across species with different sexual systems (dioecious, monoecious, hermaphroditic). The overall goal of my research is to elucidate the role of epigenetics in sex chromosome evolution using Silene species as a model system.
