My doctoral research focuses on the impact of ecological intensification on the ecosystem services provided by rice-fish farming systems in the Highlands of Madagascar. Particular attention is given to the role of the common carp (Cyprinus carpio) in rice paddies, especially regarding its contribution to pest regulation and resource use efficiency. My studies aim to compare ecosystem services and system performance across different levels of intensification and assess their contribution to the agroecological sustainability of the system.
