My activity
I am an ecologist working in aquaculture and my research activities at ISEM are focused on integrated production methods, such as multi-trophic aquaculture and rice-fish farming. My research activities aim to optimize sustainable systems of aquatic food production based on principles of nutrient flows and species interactions. I apply the study of ecological indicators and stable isotope anlaysis to evaluate polyculture systems, alternative/local feeds and the performance of new and endemic species. Furthermore, I collaborate with human health researchers in a OneHealth approach to incorporate measures of biocontrol to decrease the risk of human parasite infection.
