My activity
I am a geoarchaeologist and I study how the interaction between societies and their environments has shaped long-term landscape change. I use geomorphology, sedimentology, paleopedology, geochemistry and soil micromorphology, and I develop multidisciplinary approaches combining geosciences, palaeoecological and archaeological data to reconstruct past environments and human activities.
My research interests include Holocene socio-environmental interaction around settlements and hydrosystems; palaeoenvironmental impacts linked to the development of complex societies and (proto)urbanization processes in the Mediterranean and Celtic areas; geomorphological forcings during the Iron Age and the Antiquity; and multidisciplinary approaches to the genesis of Mediterranean cultural landscapes.
I am currently a MSCA postdoctoral fellow in the ISEM developing the project CELTMED. It aims to study the environmental and landscape legacy of Greek colonisation in Celtic world during the early Iron Age in Western Europe, through a combination of palaeoecological and geoarchaeological analysis of sedimentary archives.
