My activity
My work is at the interface between evolutionary biology and bioarchaeology. My thesis focuses on the emergence of modern animal breeds, establishing links between morphometric variation in archaeological specimens available from the 15th to 18th centuries, museum collections (19th and 20th centuries) and breeds bred today. I use morphometric tools to quantify the variation in bone remains.
More specifically, my objectives are to:
1. Expand existing databases concerning current morphological diversity,
2. Study the morphological evolution over the past two centuries of well-represented breeds in osteological collections,
3. Compare ancient and modern morphometric variations: to characterize the temporality and speed of morphological changes resulting from recent breeding and selection practices within the broader history of domestic animals.
