My activity

My PhD research (2017-2020) aims to reconstruct and analyze the fire regime at various temporal and spatial scales in the boreal forest of central Northwest Territories in Canada. My analyses focus on the climatic and environmental factors and their interactions with ‘extreme’ fire events (large severe fires) over the past 50 years and since the beginning of the Holocene (last 10,000 years). The second objective of my PhD is to predict future fire risk at the regional scale using the LPJ-LMFire model, used to model processes between climate, vegetation and fire. The overall objective is to understand how fires could be modified by future climate and vegetation changes and what implications could have members of the Tłı̨chǫ Indigenous community, especially in terms of maintaining the ecosystem services provided by the forest.
