I am interested in the interplay between ecology, epidemiology and evolution in shaping host-parasite dynamics and infection outcomes. My research focuses on how spatial structure affects host-parasite evolution (e.g. dispersal, virulence, transmission), disease spread and the underlying eco-evolutionary feedbacks. I am investigating host-parasite interactions during spatial dynamics and epidemic outbreaks in simplified laboratory settings using experimental microcosm landscapes with an aquatic model system (the protist Paramecium caudatum and its bacterial parasite Holospora undulata).
