My activity

I study karyotypic evolution and dosage sensitivity across different systems using genomics. During my PhD at Trinity College Dublin, I analysed the evolution of cancer genomes, focusing on extreme chromosomal instability leading to polyploidy and hypodiploidy. My goal was to understand the pressures and limits shaping chromosomal evolution across a wide range of cancer types. That work is described in Loughran et al (2026) Genome Medicine.
