As a research assistant in molecular biology, I contribute to the team’s activities as part of the DemoMar project, which aims to improve recent demographic inferences for marine conservation with genome-wide co-ancestry.
My role involves the construction of haplotagging libraries (a new method that enables the phasing of megabase-scale genomic blocks at the individual level) from samples of four marine fish species, in order to provide genomic data for the research of two PhD students.
My work is primarily experimental and includes the extraction, purification, and qualitative/quantitative assessment of high molecular weight DNA, as well as the construction of haplotagging libraries for sequencing.
