My goal is to assess the prevalence of social hybridognenesis – an atypical reproductive system – in the Formicidae and more specifically in the genus Messor and the Stenammini tribe. Through sampling, colony rearing and access to museum specimens, I plan to compare genomic results with ecological data to reveal possible environmental factors that may cause or maintain this reproductive system.
