Environmental change such as climatic change can lead to demographic decline. Centaurea corymbosa is an example. Indeed growt rate is affected by an increase in temperature (Hadjou Belaid et al., 2018).
The concept of evolutionnary rescue emphasises that the maintaining or increasing of evolutionnary potential could promote the persistence of populations (Gonzalez et al., 2013). The evolutionnary potential depends on effective population size and standing variation. The concept is defined by “ the recovery by adaptive evolution of a population that is threatened by environmental change, by utilizing pre-existing genetic diversity and/ or new mutations”(Frankham et al., 2017). I m working on a project that focusing on the application of evolutionnary rescue in conservation management.
