My activity
My research focuses on pathogens affecting aquaculture in West Africa, particularly in Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal. I work on the Cyprinid herpesvirus 3 (CyHV-3) and the Tilapia Lake Virus (TiLV), two highly pathogenic viruses affecting common carp and tilapia, respectively, as well as bacteria of the Aeromonas genus.
Using an ecosystem-based approach, my project covers 30 agro-ecological zones across Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal. Its objectives are to:
1. Identify the presence and spatial distribution of these pathogens;
2. Analyze ecological factors and aquaculture practices promoting disease outbreaks;
3. explore the genomic diversity of African strains to better understand their evolutionary history and dynamics.
This research aims to enhance infectious risk management and support the development of sustainable aquaculture in the region.
