Quantitative geneticist in aquaculture in Cirad, I am working mainly on two areas:
1/ the genetic improvement of feed efficiency in Nile tilapia. Improve the feed use by fish would allow to improve the sustainability of fish production, which is increasing years after years. It is so essential to assess the possibility to improve feed efficiency at the genetic level.
2/ the development of innovative participative genetic breeding programs in developing countries. Selective breeding programs are generally performed far from the environmental constraints of the rearing fields. The idea behind this concept is to develop participative selective breeding program for and with the fish producers.
