I am working on the development of the National Action Plan (PNA) for the conservation of Centaurea corymbosa and the Clape massif in the South of France. This project is led by ISEM, the Mediterranean National Botanical Conservatory and the Narbonnaise en Méditerranée Regional Park.
PNAs are strategic and policy documents designed to outline the necessary actions for restoring threatened species to a favorable conservation status. In this case, the primary focus is the conservation of Centaurea corymbosa, a rare, emblematic, and endemic species. It is nationally protected and listed as Endangered (EN) on the Red List of France’s flora.
While this PNA prioritizes the preservation of this species, it also aims to conserve the massif’s entire flora and natural habitats. The project thus follows an ecosystem-based approach to ensure an integrated and coherent management of conservation challenges.
