Thomas’s PhD thesis, defended in 2025, investigates socio-environmental dynamics in Corsica between the Bronze Age and the Iron Age through archaeobotanical data. Based on the analysis of plant macroremains (charcoal, seeds, fruits) from several sites across the island, the research provides new insights into landscape evolution, agricultural practices, and the management of plant resources. It highlights the transformation of forest formations under human pressure, the development of agro-silvo-pastoral systems combining polyculture and the exploitation of wild resources, as well as the introduction of new plant species. The results reveal both the gradual integration of Corsica into Mediterranean networks and the persistence of an original and resilient insular agricultural model.
Since the completion of his PhD, he has been carrying out carpological and anthracological studies within the framework of preventive archaeology.
