To this end, I am involved in fuel characterization in the field across several regions of mainland France\u2014work that had never before been undertaken at this scale. The collected data are shared with several research laboratories and combined with land-use data and LiDAR data. This step enables both horizontal and vertical characterization of environments, whether forested or not, followed by the modeling of fire behavior using spatially explicit quantitative models. The next objective is to present this assessment of fire susceptibility to land managers and to apply the models with them to evaluate the impact of landscape management measures they wish to evaluate before implementing them. This approach, based on objective quantitative data and models that have already proven effective outside of France, could eventually become a valuable tool on a national scale."}
