The most promising method is the Metabarcoding of environmental DNA (eDNA), allowing fast, cheap, and universal identifications for all specimens in the tree of life. As part of the iAtlantic project, I analyze deep-sea sediment samples from the Atlantic with this up to date method to describe so far unknown communities. At the same time, the aim is to improve and include new methodologies to overcome current pitfalls and enable a fast and universal biomonitoring tool."}
