My research focuses on developing tools and methods for modelling multi-species aquaculture systems (e.g., IMTA, polyculture) to simulate and assess their productive and environmental performance, particularly in the context of global change. The tools I develop at the farming system level (e.g., farm-scale model and ecosystem model) are designed to assess the ecological carrying capacity of ecosystems for aquaculture, thereby supporting decision-making in resource management. Combining these tools with multi-criteria assessment methods (e.g., Life Cycle Assessment) makes it possible to identify the key drivers of aquatic products' environmental footprint and adopt a more holistic perspective that considers both local and distant environmental impacts. More broadly, my research contributes to critically examining the sustainability of aquaculture systems and value chains, and their role within food systems in terms of environmental efficiency, nutrition, and food security."}
