This research involves the collection and statistical analyses of instrumental data on the short term (some decades), fossil data from sedimentary archives on the long term (thousands to million years) and mechanistic modelling to integrate them. Specifically, I study the history of fire disturbance in savannas and forests and the response and resilience of ecosystem structure and diversity to climatic and anthropic forcing.
