As part of the research, I will assess the role of the faba bean (Vicia faba) at the onset of agriculture using the botanical remains of the species found in prehistoric sites in Europe and Southwest Asia. Tracing the spread of the faba bean from its original centres of domestication is crucial to understanding the impact of adaptation to new ecological settings on morphometric and, indirectly, genetic traits. Within the context of this project, I intend to combine two of the most innovative methods available to archaeobotanists: Geometric morphometry and Stable Carbon Isotope Analysis (also known as &#x394;13C analysis).</description></oembed>
