Ethics & Animal welfare committee

To meet the demands of civil society related to animal welfare and strengthen protection of wild animals, the European Union adopted in 2010 a Directive which sets out the regulations related to the protection of wild animals used for scientific purposes (210/63/EU).
In accordance with this new legislation, ISEM has been approved as an Establishment Using Wild Animals for Scientific Purposes [number A34-172-042] with an Animal Welfare Structure whose missions are:
– to assist staff in the implementation of research projects involving experimental procedures on wild animals, animal welfare being at the heart of our concerns
– to ensure the compliance of scientific projects with the legislation
– to advise staff on ethical issues.
